At last week’s award ceremony of the Yellow Frame awards for Sustainable Development, the Dinara back to LIFE project was awarded in the category of promoting sustainable agriculture. We are grateful to the organizers, Adria Media Zagreb and National Geographic Croatia, as well as to all our partners, associates, stakeholders and volunteers.

Professors Kutnjak and Leto presented a scientific paper which established the regularity in the productivity of grasslands at 500 meters above sea level. This is the first step in making a model of mapping of pastures at the slopes of Dinara, and a prerequisite for making a model for mapping the pastures in general.
In Ježević under the Dinara mountain, educational-volunteering camp was held with 18 students from various scientific and Croatian geographic areas who learned about habitat restoration and cleared 28 hectares of grassland.

The traditional method of habitat control has come under test. Last winter, six hectares of grassland with scattered bushes and trees on Vrdovo were burned in a prescribed burn. Five months later, we checked the effects. And – they’re promising!
